Shin'ya, the son of an Englishman and a Japanese woman, grew up in England. After his mother's death, he travels to Kuramachi, the snow-covered town where his parents met. His aunt Miyu offers him lodging at her church, but a leg injury sends him to a clinic. There he meets Narumi, a woman who likes to read, and their encounter becomes memorable.
